One is free forever. One pays for the servers.

Framesleuth runs on your own machine with your own model, so it costs us nothing to give away — and it stays open source. Sidekick makes model calls on hosted infrastructure, so it has a price.

Common questions

Will Framesleuth ever stop being free?
No. It is Apache-2.0, which cannot be revoked for code already released. It runs on your hardware with your model, so there is no per-user cost to recover.
Can I self-host Sidekick instead?
Not today. Sidekick's backend is proprietary and the hosted service is the product. If you need an on-premise deployment, get in touch.
Do I need an OpenAI key for Sidekick?
No — that is most of what you are paying for. Model access is included; there is no key to create, fund or rotate.
What is the Team plan and how do I get it?
It is the same Sidekick on a higher ceiling — 20,000 requests a day instead of 5,000 — for a group sharing one invoice. Self-serve billing does not exist yet, so it is set up by hand: email us and we will price it for your organisation.
Do the two products need each other?
No. They share principles, not code paths. Use either on its own — or run both MCP servers side by side, since none of their 27 tool names collide.
